Meta's new agentic AI app Muse reached No. 2 on the U.S. App Store after accumulating over 83,000 iOS downloads since its Tuesday launch, according to Sensor Tower data. However, the debut trails Meta's own Threads app, which saw 4.3 million U.S. downloads on launch day, and ChatGPT, which averaged roughly 83,300 daily downloads in its first week. Muse's main competitor is Instinct, a text-based AI agent valued at $2.5 billion, which has been rapidly shipping new features.

OpenAI has launched the Agents API in public beta, giving developers access to the same Codex harness and infrastructure that powers Codex and ChatGPT for Work. Available to all developers at no additional fees beyond token and tool costs, the API enables cloud agents via a single API call, with features including automatic context compaction for long sessions, parallel subagent support, and tool search. Sandbox options include OpenAI-hosted environments and partners like Cloudflare, DigitalOcean, and Vercel.

Google Labs has expanded Dreambeans, its personalized daily story app first introduced in June 2026, to all U.S. users aged 18 and older on Android and iOS. The app generates daily story collections by combining personalized topics like places, shows, and upcoming events with data pulled from connected Google apps including Calendar, Gmail, Photos, Search, YouTube, and Gemini. Users who connect Google Photos can see visuals of themselves and loved ones woven into stories, and can bookmark, share, or dive deeper into any story.

OpenAI has launched ChatGPT for Financial Services, a tailored product combining GPT-6 Astra's reasoning with built-in premium financial data from Daloopa, PitchBook, LSEG News, and Crunchbase. Developed with design partners Morgan Stanley and Evercore, it targets investment banking and equity research teams. The product supports LBO modeling, earnings analysis, and pitchbook preparation, and integrates existing subscriptions from S&P Capital IQ, MSCI, and Moody's. Enterprise security controls, granular citations, and firm-specific Excel, Word, and PowerPoint templates are included.

Anthropic's Frontier Red Team tested Claude models on tactical intelligence targeting and conventional weapons tasks, finding frontier models like Mythos Preview and Mythos 5 now perform near-superhuman levels. On photo geolocation across 6,000 images, Mythos models beat the top 0.01% of competitive GeoGuessr players, scoring median errors of 37 and 47 km. Models also excelled at linking anonymous social media accounts across platforms. Anthropic has deployed new classifiers to block such misuse, but warns open-weights models from PRC developers also show concerning capability levels.

OpenAI has launched GPT-Live-1 in its API, a full-duplex voice model that listens and speaks simultaneously, priced at $0.05 per minute. Unlike traditional voice pipelines that chain speech-to-text, LLM, and text-to-speech components, GPT-Live-1 handles audio in a single model, reducing latency and simplifying architecture. It can delegate complex reasoning to backend models like GPT-6 Astra. Early adopter Speak reported an 80% reduction in interruptions, and one healthcare customer eliminated 23,000 lines of code by switching to it.

Google has launched the Gemini app for Windows, available now for Windows 10 and 11 and downloadable at gemini.google/desktop. The app lets users open Gemini over active work using the Alt+Space keyboard shortcut. It also offers a dedicated workspace for multi-step tasks via Gemini Spark, an AI agent with access to Gmail and Google Drive, plus image and video creation tools powered by Nano Banana and Gemini Omni. More native desktop features are planned.

OpenAI has launched a Data agent in ChatGPT Work, enabling business users to analyze company data, build interactive dashboards, and take action using plain language. The agent connects to sources including Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery, Snowflake, Databricks, MongoDB, and ClickHouse, and pulls files from Google Drive and SharePoint. It integrates with BI tools like Tableau, Power BI, and Sigma. Early adopters include NTT Data and Thermo Fisher Scientific. OpenAI says nearly all of its product team uses the tool internally.

OpenAI and the U.S. General Services Administration have announced a multi-year agreement offering free ChatGPT licenses—waiving the standard $per-user monthly fee—and 50% off usage costs for federal, state, local, and tribal governments. The month deal, running through December 2028, extends eligibility to roughly 23 million public-sector workers. It also includes Daybreak Blue cyber-defense access at 50% off for all verified government entities, plus onboarding support and a Government Academy to accelerate AI adoption across agencies.

Universal Music Group and ElevenLabs have announced a multi-year strategic agreement to launch a licensed AI music creation platform enabling fans to create remixes, mashups, and new track interpretations using music from participating artists. The deal, ElevenLabs' first with a major label, also covers joint development of AI audio products for artists and songwriters. The new platform will be separate from ElevenLabs' existing Music API and ElevenMusic app, with artists fairly compensated for their participation.
